ARRL Coding 300Jerry Whiteleather and I (Dave Meyer) were in the Ham Radio club.  Back in those days we had to learn the Morse Code (“dits” and “dashes”).  I found an old handbook photo to remind  of us the “good old days”.

My call sign was WA3DOW then, now I am KJ6NSK operating on 2 meters.  We use ham radio as a fallback communications system in case of disaster as a member of the San Diego Interfaith Disaster Council in conjunction with the Office of Emergency Services, FEMA and the Red Cross.

Much of what we do today is on the internet with phone and tablet access interactively with mapping software — pretty amazing compared to the days of “dits and dashes”.
